This privacy policy explains how we handle your personal data, in accordance with applicable data protection law, in particular the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you have any questions, please get in touch.

2. The key points

  • This is a simple, static website.
  • We use no cookies, no analytics or tracking tools and no advertising services.
  • Fonts are served locally from our own server, not from Google or any other provider.
  • Google Maps and YouTube are only loaded after you click (two-click solution).

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (“Cloudflare”). When you visit the site, the host automatically processes data sent by your browser: IP address, date and time of access, page/file requested, amount of data transferred, referrer URL, browser type and version, and operating system. This is technically necessary to deliver the website and keep it secure and stable.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website). A data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place with the host. Cloudflare stores this access data only for a limited period; logs of our website application are deleted automatically after 7 days. Cloudflare processes data in data centres in Europe and the USA. For transfers to the USA, Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (European Commission adequacy decision, Art. 45 GDPR); in addition, the data processing agreement incorporates the EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). 4. Contacting us by email, phone or inquiry form

If you contact us by email, phone or via the inquiry form, we process the details you provide (name, email address, preferred arrival date, length of stay, message and any other information you choose to give) in order to answer your inquiry and, where applicable, to prepare and perform a rental agreement. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (responding to general inquiries).

Inquiry form: Form submissions are forwarded from our website (hosted by Cloudflare, see section 3) to our mailbox as an email using Cloudflare Email Routing; Cloudflare processes the form content and technical data (e.g. IP address) on our behalf. The same data processing agreement and safeguards for transfers to the USA apply as in section 3. Cloudflare does not store the form data permanently. Our mailbox is operated by Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland (iCloud Mail). If sending fails in an exceptional case, the form offers to send your inquiry with your own email program instead.

We delete your inquiry once it has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply (e.g. tax obligations if a rental agreement is concluded).

5. WhatsApp

Our website contains a simple link to WhatsApp. No data is sent to WhatsApp just by visiting our website. Only when you click the link does WhatsApp (or the WhatsApp website) open, and the privacy policy of WhatsApp Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland, applies. If you message us via WhatsApp, WhatsApp processes your phone number, metadata and messages; data may be transferred to the USA (Meta Platforms, Inc.). Please only use WhatsApp if you are comfortable with this – you can always reach us by email or phone instead. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.

6. Google Maps (after you click)

On the “Villa Maslina” page you can display a Google Maps map. The map is only loaded when you click “Load map”. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. After you click, data such as your IP address, the page visited and technical browser information is transmitted to Google; Google may set cookies and may also process data in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG), which you give by clicking. Consent applies only to the current page view; we do not store it. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.

On the “Surroundings” page and elsewhere we also link to Google Maps. These are plain links; data is only transmitted when you click one.

7. YouTube video (after you click)

On the “Villa Maslina” page you can play a YouTube video. The video is only loaded when you click “Load video”, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. After you click, data such as your IP address and technical browser information is transmitted to YouTube/Google; Google may use cookies or similar technologies and may also process data in the USA. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG), which you give by clicking. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). You can withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future. Simply contact us using the details above.
